And off comes the diapers!

Hello kutty boy!

you're officially off the diapers, and on underwear!

I guess I can carry around one set less of diapers when we go out or go visiting.

Stay cheeky.

Amma

Insecurity setting in.....

Dear Eshvarhen,

You've become very clingy now, we knew this would happen. It's just that the insecurity sort of set in a bit later for you than for your Annai when you were born.

You'll always be special to Amma, baby, coz you're a second born, just like myself. People say we all have the second child syndrome, but I think we're the real fighters who continue to fight for survival.....hahahahaha......

Anyway, you're speaking well now, with two-word sentences. You actually ask me to switch on the cartoons for you too........You make me proud, son.

Just so you don't forget, you always ask the maid to carry you if your find that patti and Amma are not going to carry you. See what I told you about being the survivor?

Stay you, baby.

Hugs,
Amma

The thoughtful cook

Dear Eshvarhen,

You're playing curry masak just like me, and I like it when we cook dog and cat curry for Amma and Appa to eat. You're actually pretty clever, turning on th stove and cutting the vegetables with the play knife. You do know we're not allowed to use real knives right? I can't imagine how angry Amma will become.......

I hear you're grown to be 90cm........that's not too bad....I think I must have been around that height when I was your age. Soon you'll be 1m....but never as tall as me, coz I would have grown up and become taller....if you dont understand TALLER, that's alright, you'll learn when you go to school.

Thanks for bringing water for me to drink each time you ask Ghandima for water.....although it does get a bit annoying when I DON'T want the water and you still insist I drink it. Thanks also for the time that you pat my head when I cough........

I love you, Thambi....you're my best friend too.....

Kisses,
Annai

Bagyashri Onboard!

Tangachi,

Welcome to the brood. You have very smll fingers and cute eyes which Amma will not let me poke.

Why do you have to keep turning your head to the other side? Can't you see Annai and Cinnanai are tyring to see you? Anyway, I'll just kiss your head and eat some of your hair in the process..

Just so you know, you'll be sharing my Amma, but you have to allow Amma to carry me too. I'm only two, and am allowed to feel insecure as and when I feel like it. Annai's more or less accepted you, because I heard he already had his bout of insecurity when I was born.

When you grow a bit bigger, maybe I'll let you share our toys, but I'm having a hard time sharing with Annai, so you'll have to fight to keep your toys.

Looking forward to fights.

Love you anyway,
Your loving Cinnanai

Our first costume party!

Aksheeya had her 1st birthday bash today.....and Annai and I went all dressed up to the theme "JUNGLE ANIMALS".

Annai was a Panda bear, and he won the best dressed. (Amma told me later that being a Panda bear was Annai's own choice, and he also wanted to carry a bamboo shoot in his hand to immittate the Panda eating the bamboo shoot).

I was a tiger, and I think I really scared Appa with my tiger roar! Amma was so surprised that I sat quietly while she painted my face with some home made face paint.

Look at our pictures!

Watching TV and counting coins

Dear Eshvarhen,

When you want to watch tv, please have a care and not stand in my way, because I'm watching tv too. And didn't Amma tell you not to stand so close to the television? Your total attention is on the screen and stand there for the whole 30 minute watching Mickey Mouse.

And stop counting the coins and throwing them all over the bedroom floor, Amma makes me pick them up, not you.

And the story books are meant for reading, not to be drawn on. I don't mind personally but you know Amma doesn't like it and starts scolding.

Can you please learn to be a little less naughty? For both our sakes.

And by the way, a tiger, be it on television or in the book, is a tiger, it is not a WoWo.

Love,
Annai

Eshvarhen has a tummy upset...again.

Hello everyone,

I'm 88cm and 10.8kgs today. Appa took me to see the doctor for the second diarrhoea attack in my life. Appa keeps scolding me and telling me that I'm so prone to diarrhoe becuase I love to pick things off the floor and put them in my mouth.

This time around though, I could tell Amma that it was stomach that was aching. I think that made Appa less angry and a bit more proud.

=)

Dinosaur Wailing

Dear Pandai,

Why are you afraid of the dinosaur? It’s only a stuffed anijmal....and you seems to wail even louder when it opens it’s mechanical mouth. Your Amma laughed so much she was holding her sides because they were aching.

You know, I realised today that you adore your brother, because you were so worried your Annai went missing at the Science Centre when we came out of the Dinosaurs exhibition.

And Annai loves you too, because he got pretty upset when I told him I was going to throw you into the dinosaur's mouth.

Love,
Appa

Cheating with SHOES

Dear Eshvarhen,

Amma’s sorry we had to do this to you, baby, but it was becoming harder and harder to leave you when we go to work. SO we had Ghandhima put on shoes for your each morning on the pretext that we will be taking you out, and then we all hurriedly left to work.

This trick worked for about a month, and then you became smart and realised the ploy. You insisted I put on yoru shoes instead.

*sigh* it was worth a try I suppose........

hugs Always,
Amma

Baby Vocabulary

Dear Eshvarhen,

You're 1 year 7 months, and just to record your progress:

You can now say "annai skooll", "wake up", "more", "innum", "anne", "alli (lizard)", "meow", "Wowo", "rattam", "anni" (water), "Uting (pacifier).

You can also make sentences, for example" Annai, wake up, amma". This means, "Annai, Amma is asking you to wake up".

You are also playing masak-masak, and cooking "meen" for me everyday. He also cook "muttai (egg).....abd lets me taste it.

You understand everything said in English and Tamil.....and you're unbelievably mischievious ( I think you're worst than your Annai, if that is even remotely possible)...but you get away with everything because of your cheekiy smile.

Love,
Amma

Pious Esh

Hello Everyone,

Everyone must put vibuti and say “Om” at the altar in the mornings. And if Amma or Patti show theebam during pooja, I fold my hands in prayer all through the pooja times. I heard that I am also very pious at the temples, and also when pictures of temples appear on television....I apparently say "Om" at these instances.

All together now...."Om".....

The Loving Copy Cat

I love to do whatever annai’s does, Amma’s keeps calling me a copycat. We both love applying lotion. I have to sit on Amma's lap if Annai is sitting on the other lap. I love following Annai's bicycle while I ride my buggy. I must eat everything that Annai eats. I want to go out each time Annai goes out with Attai and Mina Patti. I take Annai to school everyday with Amma or Appa.

The only thing that Annai does that I don't do is go to school......wish I could do that too!

What can i say?

I LOVE ANNAI!

Chasing the birds....in HIGH heels

Hello everyone!

Eshvarhen here.

I'm wearing Amma's high heels and clomping about the porch while I chase after my latest craze, BIRDS.

There are birds EVERYWHERE! In the porch, on television, when I travel in Appa's car, in Ammama's porch, at the temple.....

I just love birds! and I love wearing big shoes.

Eshvarhen's Day in the Park

Dear Eshvarhen,

Did you see the way the fish gobbled up the bread crumbs Sakkti Velan was throwing at them? Soon you'll be big enough to feed you own fish.

You seem a little atheletic too....wanting to race with your brother and all.....good, son, you and Sakkti Velan shall take after the old man....hehehe

Hope you enjoyed your day at the park, son, we'll do this more often.

Hugs,
Big Lion

Exciting, exciting, Annai!

Dear Annai,

You always have something interesting to show me. I really like the "saavi" you showed me today (though Amma kept saying it's not a "saavi", it's a plastic chain that you broke off from some toy handcuffs)....whatever...but you really rock my world with your discoveries.

And I like to be the goalkeeper when we play football. I enjoy fetching the ball for you just so you can kick it far away again......

Annai, where do you go to every morning? I see you carrying a bag and wearing a PINK costume. I thought you said PINK is for girls? Patti said you're going to school....what is school Annai? Do they have any tit bits there? Did the woof woof carry you there? Do they have a lot of toys there?

I liked the way you showed the cool wound you got on your foot yesterday to Appa....and the way you said "Ouch" when Appa rubbed some oil on the wound. Did you like the way I showed my foot to Appa also, and said "Ouch" when he pressed my unhurt leg? I know the "OUCH" didn't sound as macho as yours, but don't you worry, I'm working on it.

Big hugs,Annai, you're coolest Annai in the whole wide world!

Sit Alone Hairdo

Little Eshvarhen,

You make Amma proud. You actually sat through your haircut alone, and you're only 15months! Of course you did get a little restless towards the end, but all-in-all I think it was pretty good accomplishment for a man so young.

Hugs,
Amma
